Learn to Shamanic Journey Workshop

drumIf you’re interested in Native American spirituality and shamanic journeying, consider attending an upcoming workshop facilitated by Shaman Elizabeth Herrera. Shamanic journeying bridges the gap between this world and the spirit realm, allowing you to communicate with the Divine. Through this connection, you begin to heal yourself and others.

The workshop is aimed at the novice, but many people who are experienced in shamanic journeying come to refresh their skills and enjoy the presence of other like-minded individuals.

Here is a brief overview of shamanic journeying:

During a shamanic journey, a person utilizes a visionary process to travel to the spirit realm to request healings, receive Divine messages, and commune with nature and the universe.

In the spirit realm, a person can interact with spirit guides, ancestors, spirits of people from this world and enlightened beings. During this workshop, you will discover your Power Animal, who acts as protector and guide through the spirit realm and can be a part of your spiritual journey for a lifetime or a brief period during which their archetype power is needed most.

Shamanic journeying is a natural gift that everyone can accomplish on some level, although group dynamics make it easier to experience more vivid journeys.

Saturday, April 18, 2015 • 9:30-5 pm EST • $75 (includes lunch). This price is half of the normal rate and is being offered as a “give-back” to people, who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

Shaman Elizabeth Herrera

ABOUT THE TEACHER: Shaman Elizabeth Herrera is a healer, poet, activist and storyteller, who writes life-changing books and screenplays.

Elizabeth was raised in a Christian home, but lost her faith in her early twenties. For over a decade, she searched for something to fill the void, eventually discovering Native American spirituality. Through this spiritual practice, she unexpectedly became a catalyst for healing and miracles. These events led her back to a belief in a higher power.

Always drawn to the spiritual side of life, Elizabeth began her shamanic path in Michigan where she learned to shamanic journey with Stephanie Tighe (a certified Sandra Ingerman instructor). Elizabeth continued her studies through the Foundation for Shamanic Studies for shamanic journeying, soul retrieval, and death and dying (psychopomp), but her major source of learning has been from her spirit guides, who offer limitless guidance and lessons on living a more spiritual life.

She combines her shamanic practice with the teachings of A Course in Miracles (ACIM). These teachings offer guidance on learning to let the Divine lead the way and the importance of forgiveness.

Elizabeth was fortunate to know her great-grandfather, a full-blooded Apache who raised her father, smuggled sugar and flour from Mexico into Texas, exchanged gunfire with Texas Rangers and crossed paths with Pancho Villa.

She is the author of the books Shaman Stone Soup, Dreams of Dying and Earth Sentinels.  To learn more about her stories, visit shamanelizabethherrera.com.

Dr. Yomi Garnett will interview Shaman Elizabeth Herrera on his VoiceAmerica of Phoenix show, ‘Dream the Life. Live the Dream.’ on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 7:00 am PST/10:00 am EST to discuss how her newest novel, Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators, instills hope for our planet.

You can tune in on your Laptop, IPad or smartphone by clicking on this link: http://www.voiceamerica.com/show/2293/dream-the-life-live-the-dream

The host, Dr. Yomi Garnett, built his show’s platform on the teachings of his latest book, THE BISHOP’S TESTAMENT: A Novel On The Spiritual Basis Of Wisdom And Wealth Consciousness.

Here is a synopsis of what Thursday’s Show will be all about: “The three essential human requirements for happiness are something to do, something to love and something to hope for. And what is hope if not being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness. Hope is the pillar that sustainably holds up the world. We must insist on finding hope even in the darkest of days. Disappointment is finite. We must accept it. Hope, on the other hand, is infinite. We must never lose it. Ultimately, we must learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow. It is only hope for a greater, and more compassionate tomorrow that can keep the universe viable. All spiritually-minded people must remain committed to helping to raise the energy of love on Earth, because all that is needed to improve the quality of life on earth is love. Our mission must be to continue to spread this love, as this is the only hope for the preservation of the sublime integrity of our Earth.”

The Show is now all about a user-friendly, real-life depiction of the core issues that bother the average person. Therefore, it will be a very interactive forum where you are free to call in during the show to share real life experiences, or to simply share your views on subjects that touch you with uncommon poignancy.

Shaman Elizabeth Herrera’s newest novel is a daring adventure inspired by real-life events and indigenous wisdom–Press Release

Earth-Sentinels-Cover-kindleThe author, Shaman Elizabeth Herrera, incorporated some of her own experiences into the new novel Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators, which features compelling characters, such as the fallen angel Bechard, shamans, spiritual beings and the earth’s creatures, who collaborate with supernatural powers to fight against greed, corruption and indifference, demanding that mankind changes its way…or else.

Her father was raised by her great-grandfather, who was a full-blooded Apache that smuggled sugar and flour from Mexico into Texas, exchanged gunfire with Texas Rangers and crossed paths with Pancho Villa.

One of the supernatural scenes that appears in Earth Sentinels was based on the time Elizabeth went to a tree farm. She explains, “While my husband and I walked through the rows of trees, I notice a sad, wilted tree lying on its side against a woodchip pile. I heard it whisper, ‘Help me.’ Since this was at the very beginning of my spiritual journey, I ignored the plea for help, thinking it was my imagination, but the next time I passed the tree, it called out again. I tried to ignore it, and the third time we walked near it, I actually avoided making eye contact. Funny! Right? Trying to avoid a tree,” Elizabeth muses. “Anyway, in Earth Sentinels I wrote about a tree that calls out for help because it is being killed by the chemicals that are being pumped into the land by the natural gas fracking process. Two of the main characters are brought together when they hear the tree’s pleas.” Elizabeth adds, “By the way, I did buy the real tree, which grew into a lovely specimen.

“There are other events from my life that are mixed into the story as well, such as the shamans talking to hurricanes and the totem animals that help to save the day. I believe we are all connected, which means we are all part of the problem and the solution.”

Laine Cunningham, award-winning author, stated, “This is one of those books that’s going to stand alongside classics. Drawing from Native American wisdom and the beliefs of a world filled with respect for nature and its spiritual elements, Herrera has created a global book of wisdom for a global world.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 17, 2014

What if it was much worse than you thought and the solution was beyond your wildest dreams?

  • Did you know that fracking is linked to earthquakes and is destroying our water supplies?1
  • Did you know that there is no safe way to mine, store, or process nuclear materials used in power plants?2
  • Did you know there have been over 270,000 suicides in India by farmers who used GMO seeds with devastating results?3,4
  • Did you know that the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest is altering our weather?5
  • Did you know there were at least 7,662 spills, blowouts, leaks and other mishaps in 2013 in 15 top US states for onshore oil and gas activity?6

Earth-Sentinels-Cover-kindleThe newly released novel, Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators by Shaman Elizabeth Herrera is a “no-holds-barred piece of literary realism” that dives head first into the most pressing issues affecting our planet while at the same time instills hope and offers “a classic model of wisdom for living harmoniously on earth,” according to Mark Champion of OurHealingMatters.com, “On occasion, we all read a book that we know will mark the time of our age. Earth Sentinels’ message is every bit as telling and accurate as Animal Farm and Fahrenheit 451. It is a succulent portion of cold, hard truth played out with characters you share affinity with, understand and love.”

“This compelling adventure shows that our struggles around the world are connected and that ordinary people have the power to change the world for the better.” — Dr. Margaret Flowers, PopularResistance.org

Earth Sentinels begins with the fallen angel Bechard somberly observing the world being destroyed by mankind’s greed, corruption and indifference. Realizing drastic measures are needed, Bechard begins searching the globe for people who might join his quest to save the planet.

It doesn’t take long for the fallen angel to find 17-year-old Zachary, whose family’s organic farm is being ruined by fracking; Haruto, living in Fukushima, Japan, where the nuclear meltdown is raging out of control; Mahakanta, a cotton farmer in India, who used GMO seeds with devastating results; the Amazonian tribe members, Conchita and her father, Pahtia, fighting against intruders illegally tearing down their rainforest; and the Bear Claw First Nation Tribe who are dealing with an unstoppable oil spill that is ruining their traditional hunting grounds.

Intriguing blue doors and ethereal mists beckon the characters to the spirit realm where they finally meet the mastermind Bechard to form an alliance. Excitement builds when the world’s Governments are faced with the Earth Sentinels’ demands, sent on behalf of Mother Earth who cannot speak for herself. As events unfurl and countries retaliate, the readers ride a roller coaster through the supernatural!

Laine Cunningham, award-winning author, stated, “This is one of those books that’s going to stand alongside classics. Drawing from Native American wisdom and the beliefs of a world filled with respect for nature and its spiritual elements, Herrera has created a global book of wisdom for a global world.”

Book Reviewer, Merril Anil, Gives Novel “Earth Sentinels” Five Stars!

Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators

Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators

Rating: 5/5

Beautiful!

Earth Sentinels definitely stands out for the plot. The plot is fantastic and the way it has been treated makes for an interesting read. What I like about the treatment is the fact that the author has chopped the story into small blocks, so you are not caught up in too many intricacies and webs of the plot. You are able to move into the story gradually and fully involved, which I thought was a really clever narration. Had it not been for this level of narration, the reader would have gotten lost because there are so many characters and individual stories. It would have been difficult to catch up with each character.

The story moves at a great speed and the language is beautiful as well. While the first half introduces the entire characters, the second half is where the actual story comes into full bloom and does so pretty interestingly. In spite of telling a complex story, involving a lot of characters, I felt the author eased the readers into the plot very delicately and kept it intriguing.

I still don’t know how to describe the book. In spite of being filled with fantasy elements and mystical worlds, it is very much real and intertwined with the modern world. A great thought process is definitely visible in the story.

The book for one has a pretty unique and interesting storyline with a good technique in narration. It does not burden you with the plot and details. In fact, the author has made it quite an easy read with an intelligent treatment in my opinion. The book definitely makes for an interesting read.

Earth Sentinels — A Journey Through Self Discovery

Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators

Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators

When I write a story, my underlying motive is to learn and grow spiritually. My latest novel, Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators, is no exception. Although the plot seems like a protest against the environmental assaults besieging our planet, it was written to help answer a strong, underlying question that kept nagging at me, If we are One, connected to every particle in the universe, how can we attack anyone or anything without attacking ourselves?

I went around in circles trying to figure out how to “save” the world without attacking myself, but I couldn’t find an acceptable solution. So, before I started writing, I set the intention that I would discover the answer by living vicariously through my book’s characters. In each chapter, I explored their anger at having their lives and way of life threatened and the land destroyed. I let them feel empowered and justified as they demanded that the world use only earth-friendly methods. And, as the events escalated and the world retaliated, I let them feel remorse, guilt and even more rage.

One of the conversations in the book that offered valuable insights was between the character, Haruto, who lives in Fukushima, Japan, and her spirit guides—three samurai soldiers, a crone and priestess. At this point in the story, she is talking with them while sitting around a firepit:

The priestess picked up a delicate, white smoking pipe with cherry blossoms painted on its bowl. She lit it with a twig plucked from the fire. After a few puffs, she passed it to Haruto who smoked it, then passed it to the samurai sitting next to her. As the pipe made its rounds, the crone spoke in a hoarse voice, “I believe you received an answer earlier today, one which you ignored.”

“You mean when I was told that the nuclear disaster was a reflection of my own mind?” Haruto asked.

The crone chortled, “You do remember!”

Haruto ignored the comment, instead appealing to the samurai soldiers, “You must understand the need to fight! You made warfare a sacred calling.”

The samurai in black armor answered, “In a sense, everything is spiritual. However, attack is always against yourself. Oft times, we must fight a battle, if only to learn to lay down our arms.”

The red-armored samurai piped in, “When you understand that fighting’s sole purpose is to preserve your own illusions, you will stop fighting.”

“What’s the point?” Haruto asked, exasperated.

“There is no point, except to learn there is no point,” the samurai in green offered.

I invite you take this marvelous journey and hope you find it as insightful (and fun) as I did.

Blessed journeys!

Elizabeth

How Much Does a Spirit Weigh?

spirit leaving bodyIn 1901, after numerous experiments on people and animals, Dr. Duncan MacDougall determined that the human spirit weighed an average of 21 grams and that dogs didn’t have spirits. However, his results were considered false due to flawed methodology. All subsequent experiments using better methods and equipment have shown the spirit doesn’t weigh anything, but references to his work continue to show up in popular culture, including Dan Brown’s novel The Lost Symbol.

One might say the experiment was doomed before it even began. The basic concept of a spirit is that it isn’t physical, and therefore would be weightless.

So what is a spirit? And, where does it reside within your body? The soon-to-be released book, Dreams of Dying, tries to answer this question through a fictional story. The main character, a mother, who loses her family in a tragic car accident, vacillate between two lives, before and after the accident. At this time, Jesus appears and begins to offer her unorthodox guidance—repeatedly emphasizing she is a spirit, not a body.

Dreams of Dying

Dreams of Dying

Dreams of Dying has a compelling part where Jesus asks the main character if she believes God is a spirit or body. She answers, “A spirit.” He responds, “…if God made you in his image, wouldn’t you also be a spirit?” and “If you are a spirit, how can you be a body?”

Of course, the character resists the statement: “…how can you be a body?” as most people would. The body is right in front of us. How can you NOT believe you’re a body? Jesus’ explanation cannot be understood in one concise sentence, so he takes the main character on a journey, answering questions, while repeating emphasizing there is no death, only dreams of dying. Click to Order Dreams of Dying.
